My historical specialisms include the landed and political elite from the seventeenth century onwards and the history of the printed word, among many other areas. I have worked for several major humanities research projects, both on staff and as a consultant. These include the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, where I was a research editor from 1999 to 2006, the History of Parliament, the Oxford English Dictionary and The History of Oxford University Press.
Forthcoming publications include contributions to the forthcoming History of Parliament: The House of Lords 1660-1715, and several new entries for the ongoing online Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
Recently published work includes articles for the online Oxford Dictionary of National Biography on the rake Sir Francis Blake Delaval, of Seaton Delaval Hall, Northumberland (pictured); George Greville, second earl of Warwick; and Fulke Greville, seventh earl of Warwick and David Greville, eighth earl of Warwick. My three chapters for The History of Oxford University Press: volume one, to 1780, edited by Ian Gadd, appeared in November 2013.
