My doctoral thesis, Royalty and Public in Britain 1714-1789, was approved in 1998. The study of the House of Hanover and of the self-presentation and perceptions of royalty in the eighteenth century has developed substantially in the succeeding decades.
The thesis is available as a pdf through the Oxford Research Archive.
My subsequent writing on the royal family has included several articles on its members and connexions for the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, including most recently a new article on Louisa, queen of Denmark and Norway, daughter of George II of Great Britain, to be published in 2019.
